My first joy for poetry was in sharing it live, passing it over from mouth to ear. There's a uniquely dramatic aspect of poetry that other instruments don't share, a performance that involves the whole theatric body. But the delivery is more direct than plain acting - the poet shares a part ourselves which actors keeps concealed. I enjoy doing all this on stage alone, or else with a band, or freestyling with a DJ. It's all about finding the music in the meaning.
As ever, the best way to understand what I mean is to see me live. There are a whole heap of ways you can do this but, failing that, here are a few videos that give you some clue as to what I do on stage.
